TEFL Course Information

Welcome to The TEFL Academy, the home of the UK’s most competitive and effective 120-hour TEFL course. We offer outstanding TEFL courses in Bristol and across the United Kingdom to students looking to use their language skills to teach English as a foreign language at home and overseas.

As well as completting our intensive 20-hour weekend TEFL course in Bristol, you will be able to instantly log in and start learning with our 100-hour online TEFL & grammar course. This section of the TEFL course has been carefully designed to help TEFL students learn independently about all aspects of teaching English as a foreign language and how the TEFL industry works.

Looking for a great TEFL role overseas? You’ll need to have completed 120-hours of TEFL tuition. Some employers prefer TEFL qualifications that include 20-hours of classroom tuition, rather than certificates gained purely online. That’s why The TEFL Academy offer a combined TEFL course comprising of 20 crucial classroom hours and 100-hours of smart, online learning.

Successful TEFL students who have completed their 20-hour TEFL course in Bristol and finished their online TEFL course will receive The TEFL Academy 120-Hour TEFL Certificate (internationally recognised), qualifying them to teach English as a foreign language nationally and globally. The moment you qualify as a TEFL teacher, you can begin applying for your first TEFL role. Take a look at our exclusive TEFL Jobs Board for some inspiration.

Interested in TEFL? Bristol TEFL courses are available now with just a £50 deposit when you book over a fortnight in advance! (Access to the online course is provided on receipt of the full balance payment).

Course options explained

With so much choice and such a vast amount of conflicting information available on the Internet it can be difficult for potential TEFL course students to make the correct choice. You should ensure that your TEFL course includes 120-hours of TEFL tuition, as this is the international standard for entry level teaching positions.

You will see many courses available that are shorter than 120-hours, these options are TEFL taster courses and will not be accepted by most employers. We have never seen a job that requires more than 120-hours of TEFL tuition.

If you feel you would benefit from face-to-face tuition, including the opportunity to practice all you have learnt in the classroom, you should choose a combined 120-hour TEFL course with 20-hours of face-to-face training. Combined courses may be preferred by some employers.

Tutor

Sara Jane Reed, TEFL Trainer

Sara has 7 years’ experience in teaching EFL.

She has travelled extensively throughout Central America, lived and taught in Spain, France, Peru and has taught English as a foreign language in the UK and abroad. She has a passion for learning about other cultures and teaching languages. She practises yoga and is studying to qualify as a yoga teacher. She also likes swimming, cycling and running and enjoys training for triathlons. Teaching EFL after university enabled Sara to live and work abroad in Spanish-speaking countries which helped her gain teaching experience whilst gaining fluency in Spanish, helping her to embark on a language teaching career. Her advice for students would be to plan interactive lessons which are varied and well paced and then the world is your oyster to take these skills and use them wherever you wish!

"My advice is to plan interactive lessons which are varied and well paced."
