TEFL Course Information

We offer you all the training, encouragement and teaching materials you need to help you succeed in becoming a TEFL teacher. This is an intensive course, with the end goal of giving  you a greater chance of gaining employment once you qualify.

Our combined course includes a 20 hour weekend TEFL course, which together with our 100 hours of online grammar and TEFL training gives a thorough grounding in teaching techniques and methods. You’ll learn what the TEFL world is really like, so you’re fully prepared to go out there and find successful employment.

There’s 120 hours of study which includes 20 hours of classroom tuition. This is important because some employers may prefer this to online study only. 120 hours of TEFL training is the international standard for most entry-level teaching positions.

Once you’ve completed the weekend and your online study with our 120 hour TEFL course, you’ll be awarded The TEFL Academy 120-Hour TEFL Certificate, an internationally recognised certificate which will allow you to teach English as a foreign language both here in the UK and abroad. Once you’re qualified, you’re ready to apply for teaching posts on our TEFL Jobs Board for newly qualified students.

If you want to take advantage of our limited offer and give yourself the opportunity to fulfil your dreams and become a TEFL qualified teacher, then get in touch now. All you need is your £50 deposit and you’re nearly there. Access to the online course will be provided once you’ve paid the balance in full.

“The TEFL Academy is accredited by TQUK, an Ofqual regulated awarding body.”

Course options explained

With so much choice and such a vast amount of conflicting information available on the Internet it can be difficult for potential TEFL course students to make the correct choice. You should ensure that your TEFL course includes 120-hours of TEFL tuition, as this is the international standard for entry level teaching positions.

You will see many courses available that are shorter than 120-hours, these options are TEFL taster courses and will not be accepted by most employers. We have never seen a job that requires more than 120-hours of TEFL tuition.

If you feel you would benefit from face-to-face tuition, including the opportunity to practice all you have learnt in the classroom, you should choose a combined 120-hour TEFL course with 20-hours of face-to-face training. Combined courses may be preferred by some employers.

Tutor

Katherine Hargreaves, TEFL Trainer

Katherine has been teaching English for around 17 years.

She has taught in Venezuela, Trinidad and Tobago and in the UK. Her fascination with English began during her first teaching job as a volunteer classroom assistant at a language school, where she was able to observe experienced teachers. In addition to teaching English she enjoys sewing and handcrafting with fabric. She also enjoys spending time outdoors: walking, photographing wildlife and nature, and travelling. Her advice to new EFL teachers: Enjoy teaching, always aim to improve your knowledge and skills and be organised. These will go a long way.

"Enjoy teaching, always aim to improve your knowledge and skills and be organised."

John Nelson, TEFL Trainer

John has been teaching English since 2001.

With most of his teaching experience being in Central Europe (Poland, Czech, Ukraine) he has also taught in Spain and has been working at UK summer schools since 2004. He took up teaching as a way of expanding his travel options beyond Europe, but once he started he found the teaching itself became the priority. His interests include: hiking, cycling, and running and is also a singer/songwriter/guitarist, performing occasionally at folk festivals and other venues.

"I took up teaching as a way of expanding my travel options beyond Europe, but found teaching itself became the priority."
