  A. Wonderful, friendly, relaxed, interesting and experienced trainer with a great sense of humour, who was patient, happy to answer questions and give advice. He explained things well and in a variety of ways, making the whole class feel at ease and confident. Feel very fortunate to have had Corin as my trainer!

  A. Good class size, only 5 of us, which was perfect as we were all able to bond, hear many different opinions and take time to work things out in small groups.

  A. The course itself - although intensive - was really good and we went through many aspects of teaching English as a foreign language. We learnt a lot in that space of time. I'm really happy I chose The Tefl Academy.

He was really good teacher - calm, knowledgeable, could present his thoughts clearly so it was easy for us, students, to understand what we need to learn :) He gave us lots of ideas, tips on teaching, managing classes, finding materials, cultural differences/potential difficulties etc. The atmosphere was great.

  A. I thought that the classroom session was very helpful and very detailed. The tutor explained everything perfectly which was really good because if I came across something like this on my own, it would be hard to understand so it was better that we had someone tell us all about it, make us feel more comfortable with the course and it definitely boosted up my confidence. The atmosphere was incredible, had a laugh as well, so it made the whole experience more enjoyable.

  A. Absolutely the most amazing tutor I had. Not only was he really nice but his teaching skills, and the way he taught us was brilliant, really easy to follow and understand. When help was needed he was there to explain. He made the whole 20hrs session really fun and enjoyable, so it was really exciting coming into the classroom in the morning.

• Q. How satisfied you were with the classroom element of the course?

  A. The course gave me a good insight to what to expect, and covered a vast amount of ground in many aspects. However the timetable advertised was too ambitious; our excellent teacher kept the pace up but some themes were either quite sketchy or not covered at all. The Teaching Practice sessions were a bit muddled as we were trying to interpret how to use the resources we were given, which most of us found hard to elicit and adapt material from rather than concentrate on practising teaching.

  A. He was good anyway, knew his material thoroughly, kept the atmosphere jolly without letting it become silly, mixed the class well, and used technology very effectively. He pointed out pitfalls and areas of sensitivity. He made the course enjoyable.

  A. Because I was impressed how much TEFL material we covered over 2 days. I was very satisfied with our tutor Corin, his linguistic knowledge is remarkable. All the other students seemed happy to be there, and we all worked well together.

  A. Corin was extremely knowledgeable. I admired his passion and energy for teaching. I was amazed by his fluency in Arabic language, and how he used it to make us feel like those foreign students that have no English language knowledge. Everyone would be happy and learn plenty with a tutor like him.

  A. He was confident. Had great understanding of the topic he was teaching.He was very patient and cheerful.

• Q. How satisfied you were with the classroom element of the course?

  A. I really enjoyed the classroom element of the course. The lesson was very dynamic. We were given variety of activities which made the lesson interesting. For some activities we were requiered to use our phones which has changed my opinion about using technology during classes. There was not many people in the class which made it much more enjoyable since we were able to get to know each other better which made it easier to work in groups or to teach at the end of the course. In the part about Teaching complete begginers we were able to experience how students feel like while they are learning a language. Colin Patternson used the techniques mentioned in the course to teach us a little bit of Arabic. We could see he understands the topic perfectly and he was able to respond all the questions we came up with during the lesson. What is more, he gave us perfect guidance on how to prepare our very first lesson.

  A. Good pace to the day. Lots of thought provoking material. Good interaction between tutor and students.

  A. I felt that the course gave an excellent introduction to studying TEFL in a very positive and supporting way. I felt that clear explanations were given to the different elements of the course and included the rationale behind the statements. The chance to talk with the instructor about his experiences was invaluable. The activities really helped to focus on the objectives of TEFL and working with others helped to clarify things and give support whilst learning.

  A. He explained everything very well indeed and answered all our questions. He was very supportive and helped us to focus on the objective of each activity. He shared some of his experiences both in this country and overseas working as a TEFL teacher and these were food for thought and may well prepare us for certain situations in the future that may not be covered in a training manual!
