Congratulations to our Recent Graduates!
There is one day every year when the Netherlands and everyone in it is orange.
The Netherlands is a small European country bordering Germany and Belgium. This is King’s Day and is undoubtedly the biggest holiday of the year. Residents wear orange clothes and celebrate with festivals and street parties all over the Netherlands. This celebration sums up what the Netherlands is all about: spirit and community. The Netherlands is one of the friendliest places you will ever visit and, as an added bonus, it’s postcard-perfectly gorgeous.
The Netherlands is famous for many things: bicycles, canals, tulips and clogs, amongst other things. Most of the country is flat so riding a bicycle is a great way to get around. From March to May the tulips are in season and cycling through the flower fields is an experience you will never forget. Then there are the windmills dotted around the countryside, and the canals of Amsterdam, while Maastricht is known as the most beautiful city in the Netherlands. Of course, the Netherlands is a very liberal country so if you’re looking for some excitement, head on to one of the many coffee shops or take a walk around the Red Light district.
It may seem odd to want to teach English in the Netherlands as it is often considered a country where everyone can speak English. Though there definitely is a high level of English in the Netherlands, there are still opportunities for qualified teachers.
Most of the teaching opportunities are in language schools in Amsterdam, Leiden, Maastricht and Rotterdam. However, it is not easy to work here if you do not have an EU passport – though some jobs can be found online, many employers prefer to hire teachers already in the Netherlands. If you do not have an EU passport, it can be difficult to obtain a work permit.
