As a teacher abroad, it’s perfectly reasonable to earn a decent salary. In top-paying countries, this can be from US$2,000 to over US$5,000 per month depending on the country and region.

Teaching English is one of the most rewarding careers, if not for the salary but for the opportunity for career growth and development, and the satisfaction you get from teaching your students. English teachers abroad are definitely not among the list of millionaires but the salary is quite reasonable. Some countries pay teachers a premium of US$2,000 to US$4,000 per month. Again this depends on the country and region. Keep in mind that high salaries are not always everything: weigh up the local cost of living and benefits packages to determine how much you’ll be able to save during your teaching period abroad. Although some countries and regions still pay very little (like some teaching posts in Thailand or Central America), other countries, particularly teaching jobs in the Middle East and Asia, are compensating English teachers with surprisingly decent wages. The highest-paid ESL jobs can often be found in these parts of the world.
