Living the Dream
My story begins with a simple question: where do you see yourself?
My name is Florencia and I am from Argentina. I heard about the TEFL course due to CAROLINA PIQUERAS. I was one day passing by stories on Instagram when I ran into this girl. I clicked on her profile and just fell in love with her life. At that moment I asked myself: where do you see yourself? The answer was pretty simple: THAILAND.
I talked with her and she recommended a TEFL course from The TEFL Academy. I started investigating it and after two months I decided to buy the course.
Back in Argentina I was an English teacher. I had been working as a teacher for almost 8 years so my experience helped me to do the TEFL course. I learnt a lot about teaching abroad especially when you do not share the mother tongue. Once I finished, it was time to start applying for jobs around the world and just hope for a new life opportunity.
November was the month where my life changed. I saw a job opportunity in Thailand for the school where Caro used to work. I applied and after a week I got the job. It was time to start packing my suitcases and make my dream come true.
I arrived in Thailand on January 5th and I have been living in TRAT , a province of Thailand. I work in TEC ( Trat English Community). I met amazing people in this first month which helped me to settle down.
My students are just fantastic!
Thai people are so nice and kind, I see that every day. I got fascinated with the level of English my students have. My first day at school they asked me a lot of questions; I even had to show them where Argentina was. They were fascinated that it took me 30 hours to fly to Trat. I told them about Argentinian traditions: Mate, dulce de leche, asado and empanadas (all typical Argentinian food). I learn every day from them. I see that language is not a barrier when it comes to teaching. Just do it with love and passion.
Where do I see myself in the future? Teaching and living abroad! To all people around the world who are considering taking the TEFL course just do it. Don’t think about it because you won’t regret it! Just have your passport with you and live life!
