Purpose

Objective
Deliver engaging English language lessons to young learners (ages 5-17), following the SKOLA Teaching Framework and weekly project-based curriculum. Provide at least two interactive opportunities per lesson for students to produce English in real-life contexts, both in the classroom and during excursions linked to weekly projects. Contribute to the school's culture by modelling the SKOLA rules: ready, safe, kind.
Achieve measurable outcomes by ensuring 95% of students demonstrate improved confidence in spoken language production, as observed in weekly feedback and end-of-course tutorials. Maintain professional standards by completing 100% of lesson plans, registers, reports, and certificates on time.
Utilise the provided induction training, continuous professional development training, curriculum guidelines, and resources to create an immersive and meaningful learning experience. Align with SKOLA’s mission of helping students “learn English and discover other cultures” by incorporating opportunities for communication and cultural exchange in every aspect of the programme. Successfully fulfil teaching responsibilities during the contract period of June 16 – August 29, 2025, with a minimum commitment of four weeks.

- We do not provide accommodation
- We do not use or follow textbooks for the majority of lessons. The only time we do use a textbook is when teaching using the Callan Method at Gloucester Gate (5-9 year olds)
- We are a printless school. This means we do not have or use a printer
- We use Google Gemini to support lesson planning.

Dates
16th of June – 29th of August 2025 (minimum four week commitment, maximum ten weeks)
Wage and benefits
- 5 day week = £600 plus 12.07% holiday pay
- 6 day week = £700 plus 12.07% holiday pay

Induction
- Online meeting (TBC) & modules (completed before your start date)
- In-person at SKOLA HQ (arranged by you before June)
- In-person at Regents University (14th of June 2025).
Working hours
Monday to Friday (0830 • 1700). 30 minute unpaid break (divided between lunch and/or break time). Lunch is provided.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in any discipline
Degree in Education, Linguistics, or related degrees
CELTA, Trinity CertTESOL, PGCE in English or equivalent teaching qualifications.
PGCE in primary education, DELTA, Trinity DipTESOL, or Masters in TEFL (with practical teaching as a key element of the qualification)
Experience
At least 1 year of experience teaching English as a Foreign Language to Young Learners or teaching young learners in an English state or IB setting
Quality experience in TEFL setting plus IB or UK state school experience teaching Young learners.
Experience managing a YL classroom using a positive and proactive approach
Previous experience in a ‘centre of excellence’ summer school and project-based learning.
Experience taking children on trips
Experience leading a class on an educational trip in London
Skills
Ability to deliver engaging lessons within the SKOLA 5-stage framework (Hook, Check, Teach, Test, Apply)
Ability to incorporate inquiry-based and project-based learning into lessons
Adapting teaching to the age of the students
Ability to speak other languages to communicate with parents
To plan formative assessment and feedback
Proactivity using formative assessment to adjust teaching input and provide meaningful feedback
Familiar with using AI tools
Master of prompt engineering
Knowledge
Understanding of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) for assessing English proficiency
Knowledge of SEN (Special Educational Needs) support strategies.
