The short answer is yes. There’s absolutely no reason why you can’t work abroad to teach English as a foreign language with a friend or a partner.
TEFL Training
The TEFL Academy training consists of an intensive weekend course and then you’re learning online. This means it is easy if you both want to train to teach English as a foreign language together. Your friend or partner can sign up to the weekend training event with you. Then you can study together to complete the online part of the course wherever is convenient.
Working together will mean you can help each other if you have a topic which you’re finding difficult to understand. It also means you are still in each other’s company even though you are studying. You’ll also be able to look forward to getting your qualification to teach English as a foreign language.
TEFL Jobs
Finding a job where you both teach English as a foreign language in the same school might be difficult, but it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try. However, if you pick a large city to work in there will be more than one school looking for TEFL teachers.
You can both work in the same city, but at different schools. This will probably be better than working together because you will meet different people and have a wider circle of friends and students.
One of you could also explore the possibility of teaching private students while the other one works for a school.
Sharing Accommodation
The good thing about travelling abroad with someone you know is that it will be a bit less scary and you’ll be able to share the costs of accommodation and other living costs like internet connection, food and electricity bills.
Other Jobs
If only one of you decides to train to teach English as a foreign language, then your partner or friend may be able to get work doing something else. Hospitality is a field where English-speaking staff are often needed.
Accreditation Partners
The TEFL Academy was the world’s first TEFL course provider to receive official recognition from government regulated awarding bodies in both the USA and UK. This means when you graduate you’ll hold a globally recognised Level 3 (120hr) Certificate or Level 5 (168hr) Diploma, meaning you can find work anywhere and apply for jobs immediately.
