If we’re honest, where we are going to teach is the first thing we think about – even before we sign up for a TEFL course! So let’s talk about the top beach destinations for TEFL teachers for all those beach bums who want to teach English abroad.

Top beach destination for TEFL 1: Thailand

There should be no doubt that Thailand would be on this list. From Koh Samui to Ko Chang to Koh Phi Phi to Krabi, Thai beaches are pristine. Think soft, white sand, clear, blue seas, hammocks and a never-ending supply of pad thai.

Sound too good to be true?

It’s not!

TEFL jobs are plentiful in Thailand. TEFL teachers flock here year-round to teach in language schools, public schools, private schools or universities. While the salaries are not the highest, they are generous enough for TEFL teachers to live comfortably in Thailand and travel extensively around South East Asia.

Top beach destination for TEFL 2: Bali

Undoubtedly one of the most popular tourist beach destinations in the world, Bali is home to some spectacular beaches. Though the tourist areas may get crowded in tourist season, you’re sure to find some hidden gems.

There aren’t a lot of TEFL positions available here and there is a lot of competition but another option is to get a digital nomad visa which allows you to work remotely anywhere in Indonesia. To be sure, living and teaching in Bali is nothing short of living in paradise.

Top beach destination for TEFL 3: Turkey

Turkey is still on the rise as a TEFL destination, which means that there are schools (and vacancies) opening up every month and not a lot of teachers to fill them.

Turkey has an incredible history to get to know and many of its cities are inviting in their own right but if it’s beaches you’re after, head down to the coast and experience a taste of Turkish paradise. Teaching jobs on the coast can mostly be found in Izmir and Bursa.
