Some employers prefer a significant portion of your TEFL qualification to be face-to-face rather than purely online, and therefore the combined version of our course includes 20 hours in the classroom and 148 hours of online study. This course is particularly suitable if you feel you would benefit from face-to-face tuition, including the chance to practise all you have learnt in the classroom.
On successful completion of the course you will be qualified to teach English abroad and in the USA. In addition to learning how to teach adults, our unique course structure includes a dedicated unit on teaching English to young learners. Our Level 5 TEFL Certificate (168 hours) is approved by Ofqual as the same level as the CELTA & Trinity CertTESOL qualifications. This means our course is the most internationally recognized, accessible and affordable, TEFL qualification available in the USA.
The aim of the 20-hour weekend classroom course is to take you through all the basics of TEFL. You will get the opportunity to learn through group work and gain peer-to-peer teaching experience. This classroom course will build your confidence to a level where you will feel comfortable standing up in front of your first class.
The online portion of the course covers the theory of TEFL in more detail, such as teaching methods and grammar, and consists of eleven mandatory units. All eleven units are exam-assessed and for units 5, 10 and 11 there are also coursework-assessed assignments. You have up to 6 months to complete the online course, but the average student completes the course within 4-6 weeks.
Our course is designed to cover every aspect of teaching English from planning your first lesson to applying for your first job abroad. Our units are designed to give you maximum intake of information in the shortest time frame. This technique allows us to offer one of the most in depth TEFL courses available in the USA.
