What documents do I need to teach English abroad?

Love it or hate it, paperwork is part and parcel of our everyday lives. When it comes to teaching English abroad, there are a number of documents you need to have in order to find work legally.

These include:

  • A valid passport
  • A valid visa (if necessary)
  • A TEFL certificate (a must!)
  • A university degree or college certificate (if you have)
  • A criminal background check
  • A medical check

Once you have been  offered a job by an employer, they will let you know exactly which documents you need and what you should do with them. They will provide you with assistance in getting the correct visa.

But when you start looking for a job, it’s a good idea to make sure you have everything you need in a safe place (both hard and soft copies). This will make the application process a lot quicker and easier.
