During this time, I completed two 90-hour placements, one at a Pupil Referral Unit in Chorlton, Manchester and the other was at a mainstream primary school in Ardwick, Manchester. I was a teaching assistant at both of them, with similar duties to what was mentioned in my experience.

Helped set up the classroom with the teacher, assisted students with their work during independent study time, helped to keep students engaged whilst the teacher was teaching. I would work closely with the students that were under achieving compared to the other students, I would often take them out of the classroom individually to help with their reading, writing and spelling and would take them out as a group to do a group reading session, where they would all have the chance to read a section of a book out loud. Whilst working with these children, I made a record for each of them to document their progress, and it was visible that this time was positively impacting their development.
