The weekend was well structured, the atmosphere was fun even though there was a lot to learn and a lot of useful resources were provided. I almost expected a lot of things to feel like 'common sense' because I didn't know what to expect, but we covered so many aspects I hadn't thought about and in really engaging ways.
- Q. How satisfied were you with your TEFL Tutor? A. My tutor, Georgina, was great at making all the sessions enjoyable, even though the days were quite intense. She also used her own experiences of TEFL teaching to give us examples of what we might face as new teachers, which was encouraging and reassured me it's definitely possible to survive your first day teaching!
- Q. How satisfied were you with the classroom element of the course? A. I thought the course was excellent, very informative and the tutor was excellent. I went into the course not being 100% certain teaching abroad was what I wanted to do but I left the course now knowing its definitely the right thing for me to do. I also know more on what to expect when I do it and how to get myself in a position to start applying.
- Q. How satisfied were you with your TEFL Tutor? A. I felt he was almost faultless, he remembered everyone's name almost instantly and he was very enthusiastic which rubs off on the students which is a necessity when your spending 10 hours a day in a small room with people you've never met before. Probably couldn't have asked for a better tutor, very helpful.
- Q. How satisfied were you with the classroom element of the course? A. I didn't really know what to expect from the course, and was really glad that we didn't focus too much on the content, but how important the delivery is in order to ensure effective teaching. It really got me thinking about how difficult it is to teach in an environment where students understand very little or nothing of English. Before the course I thought it would be easier than teaching native English speakers but actually found it would be much more difficult. Agi taught us some great techniques that we could use. The class was very interactive and all of the activities that we did we could apply to our classes so it was all completely relevant. On entering the class, I didn't feel very confident as I didn't have any experience in teaching and a few of the other students were teachers. However, by the end of the course and with Agi's feedback, I felt like I really could be a good teacher.
- Q. How satisfied were you with your TEFL Tutor? A. Agi, the tutor, was extremely professional throughout the course and I had complete trust in her ability. I was quite nervous at first as I thought I'd be much slower at grasping things than others as they already had teaching experience, although Agi made me feel confident by providing constructive feedback. Everyone bonded well during the course and I think that was with Agi's help by ensuring the lessons were interactive and fun. I think most of the students would agree that she really knew what she was talking about and gave really useful information from start to finish.
- Q. How satisfied were you with the classroom element of the course? A. Our teacher was very pleasant and friendly. I felt that we had plenty of opportunities to ask questions which were all answered. Iona (our teacher) also made an effort to give us information which was most relevant to our independent reasons for taking the course. The class was motivating and I left the course looking forward to completing the rest of the work.
- Q. How satisfied were you with your TEFL Tutor? A. Our tutor seems to really enjoy her job which made me very optimistic about teaching English once I have completed my course. Our teacher was pleasant and friendly. We got through the information quickly.
- Q. How satisfied were you with the classroom element of the course? A. I thought 20 hours over two days was very hard but also very necessary. I was impressed with how fun it was and what should have been a harsh 20 hours actually was really enjoyable and informative. I also think the location of a hotel helped as it had toilets close by, and hot drinks. Also we got lots of breaks which I thought helped to keep motivation going and by doing so took into account the long hours of the course. It was very appreciated.
- Q. How satisfied were you with your TEFL Tutor? A. My tutor was Judy and I think she helped to make the course extremely enjoyable. She was bubbly, happy, informative and a very good teacher. I hope that I can be half the teacher that she has become.
