When you hear about “levels” this refers to the UK government’s framework for qualifications. This framework allows learners studying UK government regulated qualifications to understand where their qualification sits in comparison to other qualifications. A regulated level 5 qualification means that Ofqual (UK government), have approved the qualification to be at a recognised level of achievement. Our Level 5 TEFL Certificate (168hrs) is the same level as the following qualifications: a diploma of higher education (DipHE), a foundation degree and the CELTA and Trinity CertTESOL qualifications.
A regulated qualification means that it is officially recognised by government and sits on the Ofqual Register of Regulated Qualifications. You can view our qualification on the Ofqual register here.
The simple answer is, we just don't know! Recruiters offering the best opportunities with the most competitive packages are now asking for level 5 TEFL qualifications. All regulated level 5 courses are 150hrs+ in length. We have never seen a single employer ask for more than 168hrs of TEFL training.
We know that navigating your way through the TEFL web of courses is very confusing. This is why we offer just one course, exactly what you need to get the best jobs around the world!
Choosing to study a regulated qualification is your guarantee of quality. Course providers offering regulated qualifications must comply with very tough quality assurance rules and procedures. This ensures that:
Any qualification that is officially recognised by the UK government will sit on the Ofqual Register of Regulated Qualifications. Make sure to ask your course provider to provide a link to the register for their qualification.

TEFL and TESOL are both acronyms for teaching English to non-native English speakers. Both acronyms can be used to describe qualifications which certify you to teach English as a foreign language. To a large extent, "TEFL" and "TESOL" are used interchangeably.
Offering a high quality TEFL course that provides students with qualified tutors and leads to a government regulated qualification doesn't come cheap! Course providers selling on daily deal websites must heavily discount their course fees and then split what they make 50/50 with the deal portal such as Groupon, Wowcher & Amazon.
With such small revenues it’s impossible for TEFL course providers selling on daily deal websites to:
TEFL courses sold on daily deal websites are unregulated, unaccredited, lack academic credibility and will not be respected by employers.
You may see cheap TEFL courses advertised online that claim to be a “level”, such as “Level 5 140-Hour TEFL Course” (often advertised on daily deal websites), unfortunately these courses are not the level they claim to be and are highly misleading.
The level of a course tells learners where the qualification sits on the UK’s Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF). If a course is not listed on the Register of Regulated Qualifications, then it is not really a level at all. You can find our qualification on the register here.
Make sure you ask any TEFL training provider that claims to be offering a “level” of TEFL course to provide a link to the Register of Regulated Qualifications. If they cannot provide this, then the qualification is not the level they claim it to be and will not be accepted by foreign embassies and employers.
|Teach abroad - Explore the world and improve the lives of others.|
A. A strong teacher. With great sensitivity. Created an atmosphere where everyone was involved. Inclusive and inspirational.
A. I found it very thorough and useful
A. He was very engaging and knew his stuff
A. Mike is a very engaging tutor who related good knowledge from his experience as a TEFL teacher as well covering the key academic points.
A. The course leader Judy was excellent! She was enthusiastic, inspiring and full of experience and expertise. I can not rate her highly enough. Thank-you!
A. Judy was very passionate about TEFL and told us about experiences she has when she first started teaching abroad and how she overcame them. She explained everything methodically and built up the information so we could see what we would be doing next.
A. Judy was amazing! She was very supportive and included everyone in activities.
A. Mark was very engaging and clear in his explanations. He helped me feel at ease in the class and gave excellent feedback regarding the teaching practice.
A. Mark was very patient and knowledgeable and gave really good advice / feedback. He kept the group on track and answered questions we had very helpfully. He was great!
A. Good energy, easy manner, fair pace, very clear, very helpful. Sara was consistent throughout the 20 hours of course. Sara made the experience enjoyable and l felt supported and encouraged. Complex elements explained clearly and concisely. A great deal of care for all students was shown.
A. The teacher was extremely engaging with the class, I did not feel bored once. She clearly had experience in teaching and I felt that the guidance she gave me will set me up well for future teaching experiences. The group was small on this occasion, which allowed us all to feel comfortable and get to know each other a little bit. We were not taught the same things repeatedly, so each portion of the course felt meaningful and concise. One recommendation which I could offer would be to provide more materials for the group work. Some colouring pens, plain paper, flash cards etc. would be useful.
A. It was incredibly well taught and well paced so that everything we did was a logical progression from the last thing. I felt mentally stimulated the whole time (which is impressive for the amount of time you are in the classroom) and breaks and changes of energy were very well timed in order to keep class engagement high. There was a very lovely atmosphere in the class and I felt very comfortable answering questions and working with people. Teacher was one of the best teachers I've had.
A. Sarah was a brilliant teacher who was completely at ease with the class and brought the class at ease with her immediately. That rapport she built up lasted throughout the course. No one was ever made to feel stupid-- stuff was taught in such a way that everyone had the knowledge they needed to carry out exercises. When people had interesting or challenging questions she always did her best to answer them.
