Looking to try something a little bit different in your career? Love the idea of working in a different country? Then you should seriously consider teaching English as a foreign language.
We have the lowdown on how you can make it happen. At The TEFL Academy, we have a number of TEFL courses in Cardiff to give you a grasp on teaching English as a foreign language. We would highly recommend the Combined Level 5 TEFL Course (168 hours). This course is split into two distinct sections. The first one is held over 2 days at the Maldron Hotel in Cardiff. During this course, our experienced TEFL tutors will train you for over 20 hours. The second section is fully available online, and is to be completed in your home at your own convenience. When embarking upon the online phase, you will still have full access to the support of the TEFL trainers as and when you need them.
The initial face-to-face section of the TEFL course in Cardiff will include content such as how you can plan a lesson, how to effectively deliver a lesson, and instruction on what to include in your lessons. And you will receive the valuable experience of teaching yourself, which makes for great practice. Once you’ve completed these 20 hours, you’ll be an expert on what teaching English as a foreign language actually entails.
Once you move onto the online materials, you will have 148 hours of course content left to complete. This has to be finished within a six-month period, but you can work on it at your own pace. We find that it takes most of our students around four to six weeks to finish the online section. What you will be taught will be much more focused on the theory of TEFL, including proper grammar and vocabulary training.
