The TEFL Academy is fully accredited by Qualifi an Ofqual (The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation, a UK government department) regulated awarding body. Qualifi have robust quality assurance systems and procedures in place which all course providers must successfully pass in order to be accredited under the scheme.
Potential TEFL course students should remember that their prospective employers are likely to be based outside Australia. This means that accreditation bodies based solely in Australia may not be recognised by employers abroad. This is why The TEFL Academy has chosen Qualifi, as they offer international accreditation for training course providers.
You can find out more about Qualifi on their website: https://qualifi.net
The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) regulates qualifications, examinations and assessments in England and vocational qualifications in Northern Ireland.

When you hear about “levels” this refers to the UK government’s framework for qualifications. This framework allows learners studying UK government regulated qualifications to understand where their qualification sits in comparison to other qualifications. Our course is a level 5 qualification, which is the same as a diploma or foundation degree, one step above a-levels, but below a university degree. Our course is the same level as the CELTA/Trinity Cert TESOL qualifications.
A regulated qualification means that it is officially recognised by government and sits on the Ofqual Register of Regulated Qualifications. You can view our qualification on the Ofqual register here.
The simple answer is, we just don't know! Recruiters offering the best opportunities with the most competitive packages are now asking for level 5 TEFL qualifications. All regulated level 5 courses are 150hrs+ in length. We have never seen a single employer ask for more than 168hrs of TEFL training.
We know that navigating your way through the TEFL web of courses is very confusing. This is why we offer just one course, exactly what you need to get the best jobs around the world!
Choosing to study a regulated qualification is your guarantee of quality. Course providers offering regulated qualifications must comply with very tough quality assurance rules and procedures. This ensures that:
Any qualification that is officially recognised by the UK government will sit on the Ofqual Register of Regulated Qualifications. Make sure to ask your course provider to provide a link to the register for their qualification.

TEFL and TESOL are both acronyms for teaching English to non-native English speakers. Both acronyms can be used to describe qualifications which certify you to teach English as a foreign language. To a large extent, "TEFL" and "TESOL" are used interchangeably.
Offering a high quality TEFL course that provides students with qualified tutors and leads to a government regulated qualification doesn't come cheap! Course providers selling on daily deal websites must heavily discount their course fees and then split what they make 50/50 with the deal portal such as Groupon, Wowcher & Amazon.
With such small revenues it’s impossible for TEFL course providers selling on daily deal websites to:
TEFL courses sold on daily deal websites are unregulated, unaccredited, lack academic credibility and will not be respected by employers.
You may see cheap TEFL courses advertised online that claim to be a “level”, such as “Level 5 140-Hour TEFL Course” (often advertised on daily deal websites), unfortunately these courses are not the level they claim to be and are highly misleading.
The level of a course tells learners where the qualification sits on the UK’s Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF). If a course is not listed on the Register of Regulated Qualifications, then it is not really a level at all. You can find our qualification on the register here.
Make sure you ask any TEFL training provider that claims to be offering a “level” of TEFL course to provide a link to the Register of Regulated Qualifications. If they cannot provide this, then the qualification is not the level they claim it to be and will not be accepted by foreign embassies and employers.

Teach abroad - Explore the world and improve the lives of others. |
A. The in class part of my certificate really had exceeded all my expectations. I honestly thought it was just going to be a teacher just throwing info at you for 2 days straight. But it was so interactive and our teacher was incredible!
A. Absolutely friendly, very informative and really kept everything interesting!
A. James was fantastic, I could see how he was using all of the principles he was teaching us while he was teaching and it was very demonstrative and helped reinforce my belief in the techniques themselves. I had a lot of fun in general, everyone in the course was very positive and fun to learn/work with so it was a good time.
A. Mark made learning fun yet imparted so much information to us. He was positive yet constructive with feedback. I think he made each and every one of us feel like we would be great teachers like him
A. Our teacher James provided a lot of interesting and useful information over the course of the two days. He presented the information clearly and in a way that made the 2 days exciting and not intimidating.
A. James' teaching style, knowledge and experience along with his general positivity was very inspiring and helpful at this stage in the learning process.
A. It was an amazing time in the classroom, the teaching was excellent and I left feeling a lot more confident as a new teacher. As well as meeting many like minded new teachers!
A. Wonderful teacher, communicated excellently and got us involved really well and provided useful and encouraging feedback.
A. James was fantastic. His experience was evident. Both days were well paced and interesting. I was engaged the entire time (difficult in a classroom environment!). He also demonstrated so many useful classroom techniques that I can use going forward. He encouraged us but also pointed out what else we could have done to improve our lessons. Big thanks to James!
A. Brett was a fantastic facilitator and the course delivery was really engaging and practical. I feel like I'll actually use the skills I learned.
A. Brett was engaging, charismatic, and really knowledgeable. He was fantastic at connecting with students on a personal level but also kept the lessons flowing really well.
A. Excellent teacher/facilitator. Focused lessons and good momentum to sessions (time passed quickly). Excellent balance of teacher talk and student practice. Practical, motivating, enjoyable activities, but also provided a high level of rigour to prepare students. Provision of time for students to practise teaching lessons was excellent. Working in pairs and groups helped the students to bond and really benefit from each others' experience. Overall, a fantastic experience. I left the course on a high, feeling motivated, excited and knowledgeable about teaching English. Thank you so much :)
A. James was an excellent model of what teaching should look like. His skills are of a high level in every way and he supported and motivated us to get the best out of the two days. Many thanks
A. James was a great teacher. We had enough breaks so weren't too tired. Lots of group activities. Learnt new things.
A. James was awesome. Enthusiastic, funny, knew his stuff.
A. The teacher, Mark, was an extremely passionate, lively person who made the whole class very exciting. The course went over almost everything covered in the online course so I could consolidate my learning. We were allowed to try all the learning methods for ourselves and get a taste for what it is like to teach. Overall extremely satisfied with the guidance of the teacher and what we covered!
A. As mentioned before he was very passionate about his job and guided the content of the lessons very well. He answered all my questions about his experiences and gave great tips for the future.
