No Place has the Magic, Mystery and Pleasures of Egypt

Egypt is also an ideal location for those who wish to travel.

Egypt is a fusion of the Middle East, Europe and Africa. Many visitors are drawn to this country, due to the history of the pharaohs and the pyramids of ancient Egypt. No visit is complete without taking in the sites of the Valley of the Kings or visiting the impressive collections in the Museum of Cairo. Egypt also boasts the Nile Rive as well as the Nile valley region and the Red Sea. It is home to the ancient city of Alexandria, and incredibly is almost 90% covered by the sands of the Sahara Desert that is located right in the middle of the country. The rich cultural environment of this country will delight anyone who decides to live here. Egypt is also an ideal location for those who wish to travel. It is easy to access both the Middle East and Africa from Egypt.

The people of Egypt are friendly and helpful, as long as you show respect to their customs. Egypt is a Muslim country and visitors need to act more conservatively in their behaviour and dress. Women need to avoid showing their knees, shoulders and cleavage in public. Egypt has also in the last couple of years gone through a dramatic political change, particularly in Cairo where many people took to the streets to demand change. Egypt saw its long-term president overthrown and is now heading into new uncharted waters. This means that the situation in the country can be politically changeable and sometimes volatile. It is important to keep up with these changes by reading the advice from the Foreign Office.

Teaching Opportunities

EFL students in Egypt are motivated and energetic. There are many opportunities to teach English. These range from private language institutions to elementary, middle and high school in the state system. Business English is also an in-demand EFL sector. To work in Egypt teachers generally need a 120-hour TEFL certificate. Teachers are expected to teach 20-25 hours per week. If applying outside of the country, contracts often come with benefits packages. These can include your flight, accommodation, visa assistance and health insurance. It is possible to find jobs on online forums or in the Guardian and the Times Educational Supplement in the UK. It is extremely important that when applying for a job with an Egyptian employer you check out their credentials, as some schools do not provide the conditions they have promised. If you are able to secure a job with benefits, then you will live comfortably in Egypt because the cost of living is low.
