The Level 3 and Level 5 versions of our TEFL course are regulated by Ofqual (UK government department) and awarded by Qualifi, a UK government-recognised awarding body. Our Level 5 TEFL Course is DEAC-approved as meeting the criteria for Approved Quality Curriculum (AQC) status. The DEAC is a U.S. Department of Education National Accreditor.
The TEFL Academy is fully accredited by Qualifi an Ofqual (The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation, a UK government department) regulated awarding body. Qualifi have robust quality assurance systems and procedures in place which all course providers must successfully pass in order to be accredited under the scheme.
Potential TEFL course students should remember that their prospective employers are likely to be based outside Canada. This means that accreditation bodies based solely in Canada may not be recognised by employers abroad. This is why The TEFL Academy has chosen Qualifi, as they offer international accreditation for training course providers.
You can find out more about Qualifi on their website: https://qualifi.net

When you hear about “levels” this refers to the UK government’s framework for qualifications. This framework allows learners studying UK government regulated qualifications to understand where their qualification sits in comparison to other qualifications. A regulated level 5 qualification means that Ofqual (UK government), have approved the qualification to be at a recognised level of achievement. Our Level 5 TEFL Certificate (168hrs) is the same level as the following qualifications: a diploma of higher education (DipHE), a foundation degree and the CELTA and Trinity CertTESOL qualifications.
A regulated qualification means that it is officially recognised by government and sits on the Ofqual Register of Regulated Qualifications. You can view our qualification on the Ofqual register here.
Choosing to study a regulated qualification is your guarantee of quality. Course providers offering regulated qualifications must comply with very tough quality assurance rules and procedures. This ensures that:
You may see cheap TEFL courses advertised online that claim to be a “level”, such as “Level 5 140-Hour TEFL Course” (often advertised on daily deal websites), unfortunately these courses are not the level they claim to be and are highly misleading.
The level of a course tells learners where the qualification sits on the UK’s Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF). If a course is not listed on the Register of Regulated Qualifications, then it is not really a level at all. You can find our qualification on the register here.
Make sure you ask any TEFL training provider that claims to be offering a “level” of TEFL course to provide a link to the Register of Regulated Qualifications. If they cannot provide this, then the qualification is not the level they claim it to be and will not be accepted by foreign embassies and employers.
The simple answer is, we just don't know! Recruiters offering the best opportunities with the most competitive packages are now asking for level 5 TEFL qualifications. All regulated level 5 courses are 150hrs+ in length. We have never seen a single employer ask for more than 168hrs of TEFL training.
We know that navigating your way through the TEFL web of courses is very confusing. This is why we offer just one course, exactly what you need to get the best jobs around the world!
Any qualification that is officially recognised by the UK government will sit on the Ofqual Register of Regulated Qualifications. Make sure to ask your course provider to provide a link to the register for their qualification.
You can view our qualification on the Ofqual Register of Regulated Qualifications here.
TEFL and TESOL are both acronyms for teaching English to non-native English speakers. Both acronyms can be used to describe qualifications which certify you to teach English as a foreign language. To a large extent, "TEFL" and "TESOL" are used interchangeably.
Absolutely not! The highest level of TEFL qualification you will see asked for on job advertisements is a Level 5 TEFL Certificate. We have NEVER seen a single employer ask for a Diploma or more than 168hrs of TEFL training (most Level 5 TEFL courses are 150+hrs in length). Our 168hr Level 5 TEFL Course is the only qualification you need to get the best jobs around the world!

A. Mayy was an absolutely excellent tutor. She is honestly one of the most experienced teachers I have ever come across, and the experiences and wisdom she had to share were amazing. I also loved the fact that she had a sense of humour, which helped lighten the immense amount of information to absorb during the 20 hour course.
A. My instructor was incredible. She brought real-life experiences and examples into the course which made it feel applicable to any future practice in teaching overseas. She focused on providing activities with my other classmates which helped our learning environment and made the learning feel more meaningful.
A. I've learned so much and have gained so much more confidence than when I first started. It was great enough for me to believe that I made the right decision choosing TEFL Academy.
A. The instructor for the in-class session was sensational. She was well organized and welcoming. She blew me away with her passion and knowledge of the field and has inspired me to keep trucking toward. She's made me believe this is truly the right path for me.
A. The environment was friendly and encouraging. I was especially impressed by the emphasis on attending even to difficult students, and taking care not to discourage them from participating in a classroom!
A. The teacher (Dr Mayy) was incredibly engaging and managed to keep us focused and interested for twenty hours over the course of two days -- an amazing feat. (I could barely stay focused for my 90-minute lectures).
A. I thought the course was extremely well-planned and very interesting.
A. The tutor was extremely qualified and used her limited-time in the most efficient way.
A. The instructor Mayy was extremely thorough, engaging, and more than qualified for the job she did this weekend. She made the weekend a memorable experience.
A. I learned a lot this weekend. The in-class component was key to this, especially understanding phonetics.
A. You really get your money's worth with the TEFL Certificate. My instructor during the 20-hour course was also brilliant. She was passionate about teaching people how to teach effectively and gave useful feedback. Mayy really helped prepare all of us for real-life teaching scenarios.
A. She was qualified, energetic, well-spoken, and clear. Not many instructors can teach for an extended period of time and still keep their students on-task, but Mayy blew us away.
A. Although it was long, it passed quickly because of all the class activities. These class activities were a good inspiration for what I could do during my own classes. It was also a good way to meet people and practice how to present in front of a class.
A. Very helpful, very patient, very engaging.
A. The teacher, Anne was absolutely lovely. I found her examples pertinent and never redundant. I really appreciated the activities she lead, and felt that she really provided us with excellent tips and strategies for teaching.
A. As I said on the previous page, I found the tutor very engaging, dedicated and to the point. She corrected us, but gently, always offering alternatives and forcing us to reflect on our own propositions, before going on the offer constructive criticism
