How to Begin Teaching in Czech Republic

Home to one of the world's most beautiful and cultured cities

The Czech Republic (formerly Czechoslovakia) is a small country in the heart of Europe. It’s a country of castles, picturesque villages and beer. Since the fall of communism in 1989, the Czech Republic has grown into a top European tourist destination. People from all over the world come here to discover the home of beer, visit beer gardens and, of course, drink beer.

The Czech Republic has a fascinating history, which can still be experienced. Prague is the capital and is well known for its historical centre where you can see the Astronomical Clock and walk across Charles Bridge. Bohemian Paradise is an area known for its rock formations and castles. Twelve UNESCO Heritage Sites have been recognised in the Czech Republic, so you can imagine that there are many cultural attractions to explore. North of the city of Brno you can spend some time in nature and explore the Macocha Caves.

For such a historical country it is interesting that the nightlife in Czech Republic is world-famous, especially in Prague and the student town of Brno. Socialising over a beer is, of course, popular but there are many bars and clubs where you can dance the night away. On a quieter note, there are many music events and art galleries to satisfy your cultural cravings.

Teaching Opportunities

With the development of the economy has come a need and a demand for English so teaching opportunities are plenty. Aside from finding work in the state schools, there are numerous language schools, or you could come over for a quick summer camp. Teaching freelance is also an option in order to teach Business English in-house for a company. Degrees are generally preferred but you could possibly find a job without one in the smaller towns in the provinces. EU passport holders are preferred to avoid the process of obtaining a work permit.
